A TRUE FRIEND

‘A friend in need is a friend in deed’, is a saying people use to refer to their dear friends. We live in a community and we all need people around us, to appreciate, love, care and   praise us, and to be our well-wishers. That is the reason we make friends, to give us company! But alas! We find different types of people, some who are always on the taking side and never on the giving side. Some who hardly feel for others, some who just say hello and move out of our lives. Who is a friend? A friend is a person with whom we have a close, pleasant relationship.

Did you ever meet a true, sincere, comforting, caring friend? Yes! I met one. He’s a wonderful friend--a friend who listens to all our problems, a friend who wants to stay just next to us, a friend who wants to give us everything and makes our lives happy, a friend who can comfort us and show us the right way out of our troubles. Yes! I found a very special friend who is unique among all my earthly friends. His name is Jesus Christ (Yashua Messiah). He blesses me with all my needs. He does miracles in my life to keep me happy. He is a wonderful friend who gave His life for me, freed me from all my sins and made me clean and pure so that I may enter the eternal life (John.15: 13). He made a promise with me to call me His friend (John.15: 15). He listens to me when I close my eyes and speak to Him in prayer. He talks to me through the living word i.e. the Bible. Exo.33: 11.The Lord spoke to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to a friend. I remember the song, “What a friend we have in Jesus (Yashua)”. The words of this song really make us understand how true He is. How helpful He is! He is a friend who first loved us. (I John 4:18,19) There is no fear to have a friend who takes care of us every moment of the day.

We see number of people around us with false promises. We trust them and get deceived. In spite of such things happening we still want to share our lives with them. We read in Luke.15: 11-32 about the prodigal son. As long as he had lots of money to spend, he had a large circle of friends. But once he lost all that he had, he found that he had no one to whom he could turn to in his difficulties. Such are the friends of this world! James rightly tells us that friendship with this world is enmity with God. (James. 4: 4) When everything is fine with us we tend to forget God. It is only when we are alone that we remember our maker and realize what a great friend we have! And once we taste that friendship we do not like to leave that friend!

In such situations we are lonely, left out. So here’s good news! A message of a great personal friend!  One who has no conditions to His friendship. We at times may leave Him, but He is always present with His hands open to hug you, care for you, and love you unconditionally. We just have to accept Him in our lives; He does not criticize us, does not put us into confusions or troubles but pulls us out of all such situations. The Lord is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble; and He knows them that trust in Him. (Nahum 1: 7).  In IITim.2: 16-18. St. Paul tells us how everyone left him (Acts.19: 33) but the Lord stood by him and strengthened him, and delivered him out of the mouth of the lion.

King David, who has been called the second greatest king of Israel, spent most of his youth trying to escape from King Saul. In the desert and mountains where he was hiding with his army, he called on the Lord and the Lord answered him and delivered him from all troubles. Read Psalms.37: 1-9.  He trusted in the Lord and the Lord gave him the desires of his heart.
The above verses fill our heart with joy, give peace of mind, revive us, and regenerate the happy glow in our heart, body, and soul. Life becomes the most pleasurable one; even in your loneliness you feel the strength, vigor and joy around you. Though people make fun of you, you know your friend is there to protect you, to comfort you, to help you in impossible situations. Men around us are surprised at our attitude to life; they cannot understand the joy and peace we enjoy among the trials and temptations. He is a friend who can really help you out from this world and take you to that wonderful life where you and He can live together happily forever. As we read in the fairy tales He is a friend who will bind us all in one- thought, word and deed in that eternal life.

Read carefully John.14: 26. Lord Jesus (Messiah) promises us that He will send us a ‘Comforter’, the Holy Spirit. Who is a comforter? Only a friend can be a comforter! Yes! It is the Holy Spirit who wants to be our friend. It is the Holy Spirit who has been with the prophets and men of God in all their troubles! It is the Holy Spirit who will guide and protect us.

Welcome this special friend into your lives today, submit yourself to Him completely, let Him take total control of your life and you will see what an amazing difference He makes in your lives.

He is standing outside the door of your heart and knocking on it...today…now!

May the Lord help you to take a momentous decision today and open the doors of your heart and say “Come, Lord Jesus (Messiah)”, and you will never regret your decision.
