BEAUTIFUL ATTITUDES OF LIFE

In the last issue (i.e. March 2002) the theme of cleanliness and holiness was explained. After cleansing our thoughts, words and actions in the Lord, let us live a life taught by our saviour and Messiah as per the Sermon on the Mount written in Matt.5. These are also called as the Beatitudes or the good attitudes of life.
I personally believe that these were the blessings bestowed upon each individual if he tries to practice these attitudes in his life.

1. BLESSED ARE THE POOR IN SPIRIT FOR THEIR’S IS THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN.
In James 2:5 he explains “Hath not God chosen the poor of this world, rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom which He hath promised to them that love him?” Here poor in spirit means humble spirit as written in Isa.57: 15, Isa.66: 2.”I will dwell in high and holy place with him that is of a contrite and humble spirit …”
….”To this man will I look, even to him that is poor, and have a contrite sprit, and trembleth at my word.” Psl.51: 17 “the sacrifice of God (Yah) is a broken and contrite heart, O God! Thou will not despise” Prov.29: 23.”Honor shall uphold the humble in spirit and He gives grace to the humble”. I Peter 5:6, explains to humble under mighty hand of God that he may exalt you in due time. Prov22: 4.”By humility and fear of the Lord are riches, honor and life.”

The poor in spirit is a humble man who loves the Lord and fears Him, acknowledging Him as his Master in all the works he does .He is not proud, arrogant, neither trust in His power, authority or his own will, His ego is crucified in totality and he submits to the will of the Lord. Such a person will inherit the kingdom   of eternity .The Lord will give him riches, honor and life in the word and eternity. Life on earth means a prosperous victorious, revived, dejected, life, which is like dead man.

2. BLESSED ARE THEY THAT MOURN FOR THEY SHALL BE COMFORTED.
We are sad when we face problems in life, when things become impossible for us to do we almost agonize (mourn) in pain because we are helpless.  At such times the Lord comforts all those who mourn (Isa.61: 1-3).”He hath sent me to bind up the broken hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives (i.e. is those who are in bondages of this world) and the opening of the prison to them that are bound. …. To comfort all those mourn… To give beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness.”
Every problem of our life has a solution (answer) in the Lord .He gives us patience to bear the burden and shows a way to escape from troublesome situations. I Cor 10:13.The Lord gives us encouragement in this world saying, “Ye shall have tribulations (troubles), but be of good courage I have overcome the world. John.16: 33. He can turn every sorrow to joy. John.16: 20, He can turn every tear to dancing Psa 30:12. Jer31: 13 He makes us victorious in every situation of life. I Cor15: 17 Thanks be to God (Yah) who gives us victory through Messiah.
He can give comfort to the comfortless. II Cor1: 4.”As one whom His mother comforted, so will I comfort you and ye shall be comforted in Jerusalem.”Isa.66: 13

3.BLESSED ARE THE MEEK FOR THEY SHALL INHERIT THE EARTH.
Those who are meek shall eat and be satisfied, they shall praise the Lord and seek Him: your heart shall live for: your heart shall lives forever. Ps.l22: 26
“The meek shall inherit the earth and delight themselves in the abundance of peace.” Psalm 37:11. Psl.147: 6. says “The Lord lifted up the meek.” In Tit.3: 2, Paul asks the godly man to be gentle, showing all meekness to all men.”
In Galatians 5:23, one of the fruit of the Holy Spirit is meekness. Eph4: 2 and I Tim 6:11 Paul advices us to follow after love, patience and meekness. James exhorts us to do works with meekness of wisdom.
The above words help us to understand that if we love the Lord we have to live a life of meekness in thought, word and deed, so that we inherit this earth (i.e. heirs of the this earth). The Lord has already given this earth to us when He created our first parents Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden, to inherit, prosper and have dominion over this earth. Gen 1:28. Isa65: 16.We read, “He who blesseth himself on the earth shall bless himself in the God of truth.”

4. BLESSED ARE THEY WHICH HUNGER and THRIST AFTER RIGHTEOUSNESS, FOR THEY SHALL BE FILLED.
This blessing tells us to do things that are right, just and true. It literally asks us to thirst and hunger for righteousness, i.e. crave to do good things in life. The main purpose of our life is to analyze things, which are correct and just.
In Isa.55: 1-the Lord calls everyone who thirsteth and are hungry to eat and drink the waters without paying for it .Its all free of cost. In John 4:14 whosoever drinketh the water, which Messiah gives will not thirst but is satisfied. John6: 48,49 Messiah said, “I am the bread of life.” The bread which commeth down from heaven that a man may eat and not die. (But he lives forever) In Matt.4: 4 we read that man shall not live by bread alone (food of this world) but by the word of God (Yah)). So if we want to live we should meditate on the words written in Bible to satisfy the spiritual hunger and be filled with the Holy Spirit to lead a satisfied life. Psa.107: 9
