Promises written in Haggai:
Be strong, Zerubbabel’, says the Lord: ‘and be strong all you people of the land…and work: for I am with you,’ says the Lord, ‘according to the word that I covenanted with you when you came out of Egypt, so my spirit remains among you, do not fear’. (Hag.2: 4-5) ‘Do not fear’. The word of the Lord came to Haggai to proclaim to all the people to be strong in the Lord, i.e., to trust in the Lord for He brought out of Egypt, i.e., bondage of sin, and cleansed them. He also declares that His Holy Spirit remains with us to lead us in our lives. He also encourages us to leave all fear. Repeatedly he says ‘Be strong and do your work, for I am with you’. So if we do our duties and responsibilities sincerely, the Lord is definitely going to bless us. If we are careless and irresponsible the result will be curses.
Haggai talks about building the church. In Hag.1: 9 he says, ‘you looked for much but indeed it came to little and when you brought it home, I blew it away. Why?’ says the Lord. ‘Because of my house that is in ruins, while everyone of you runs to his own house’.

The above lines teach us that every person is very busy in their work, with their own wisdom, for their own benefit. This is at the cost of deceiving and duping people, sometimes ruining other’s lives. They are not God (Yah)-fearing nor are they interested in knowing God (Yah)’s purpose in their lives. They do not help others, nor are they true and faithful in their words and deeds, but work for their own advantage to achieve their goals. That is the reason they do not develop good characteristics of godly faith, hope and charity as written in I Cor.13.

The Lord wants us to develop good character by meditating on His word. Our hearts are His temples, which He wants to fill with His glory (Holy Spirit) Hag.2: 7, ‘I will shake all nations and they shall come to the Desire of All Nations and I will fill this temple with glory’. Every living thing in the heavens, on the earth and under the water will sing, ‘Blessing and honour, and glory and power be to Him who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb, for ever and for ever’. (Rev.5: 13,)
In the last days as prophet Joel wrote, the Lord is going to pour His spirit and fill all people with it, young and old and children.

Hag2: 9. And in this place I will give peace. Through the presence of the Holy Spirit the Lord is going to grant us peace, which passes all understanding (Phil.4: 7). Peace that the world cannot give. (John.14: 27). With such peace He will fill His people. Rom.17: 14…Righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.

Hag.2: 19, ‘From this day on I will bless you.’ From this day means from the time we repent and turn to the Lord. He wants to bless us and make us fruitful if we only look on to His mercy, though the circumstances are not in our favour, though we lose in life. It is not by our strength that we achieve anything but by His grace He blesses us, heals us, redeems us, if we are faithful to Him.

Hag2: 23. I will make you as a signet ring, for I have chosen you, says the Lord. The Lord has made us His signet ring. This ring is a seal of the King, the ring declares His authority, it gives orders, it shows power. The Lord wants to use us for His glory, He is giving us His authority and power to build His kingdom of righteousness. He has chosen us as His children, a royal priesthood to proclaim that He is a God (Yah) of mercy, kindness and love, to give every good and perfect gift to His children. (John.1: 8)

Our Lord Jesus (Yahshua) is the Signet on God (Yah)’s right hand, for all power is given to him, and derived from him. By him, and in him, all the promises of God are yea and amen. Whatever changes take place on earth; all will increase the comfort, honour, and happiness of his people.
Haggai was a prophet who heard the voice of God (Yah). He wrote a very small book with a number of promises for the people of God (Yah).

When employed in any good work, we should watch ourselves, lest we make it unclean by our corruptions. When we begin to feel right in our duty to God, we can expect his blessing; and the wise will understand the loving-kindness of the Lord. God will remove the blessings of the wicked, and destroy the prosperity of the careless; but he will sweeten the cup of sorrows to those who sincerely serve him.
The Lord will preserve Zerubbabel and the people of Judah, amidst their enemies. Here is also foretold the establishment and continuance of the kingdom of Christ (Messiah); The promise has special reference to Christ (Messiah), who descended from Zerubbabel in a direct line, and is the sole Builder of the gospel temple.
