Neglecting Salvation:
Are we really interested to know what salvation is? Salvation is the gift of God (Yah) to mankind. Salvation means coming out of troubles, to overcome problems in life, to get answers. Salvation means deliverance from enemies or the evil one or forgiving and saving us from sins! But it is not limited to this aspect alone. It is to make your life beautiful, meaningful and successful, to see the presence of God (Yah) in your life, to feel His power and overcome any problem in life. Because of salvation we get protection from the evil one, we get comfort and peace in our troubled lives. We have the hope to enter eternal life. (II Cor.7: 6,8). We also live and labour on earth because we should present ourselves acceptable to God (Yah). (II Cor. 5: 9-10). “For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ (Messiah), that everyone may receive the things done in his body according to that he has done, whether it be good or bad.”
Knowing all this, we still neglect salvation. Neglecting means not giving importance or priority or just not being bothered about it at all! If we neglect our faith in the Lord, we lose trust in the Omnipotent. We think we can manage all by ourselves, we can solve our own problems, but we fail! That’s the reason King Solomon said, ‘Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not to your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct your paths’. (Prov.3: 6,7)
“Do not be afraid of sudden terror, nor of trouble from the wicked one when it comes: for the Lord will be your confidence, and keep you from being caught”. (Prov.3: 25,26)
If we neglect salvation, we show our disregard for the gospel, and its’ grace. We are already condemned and are waiting for judgment. ‘He who does not believe is already condemned.’ John.3: 18. The wrath of God (Yah) is on them, they cannot escape, and they cannot get away from the curse. They cannot hide themselves from the presence of the Lord on judgment day.
The door of mercy is closed to them; there will be no more sacrifice for sin; they are completely lost. How shall we escape? We human beings can never find out or even think of a way to escape the wrath of God (Yah). The neglecters of this great salvation will be left not only without power, but without plea and excuse, at the judgment-day; if they are asked what they have to say, they will be speechless, and condemned by their own consciences.
Observe Esau’s sin. He despised and sold the birthright, and all the advantages attending it, to enjoy worldly pleasure. Esau's punishment was suitable to his sin. He later saw that the blessing he had made so light of was worth having, worth seeking. He was rejected of God (Yah); the blessing was given to another, Jacob.
By neglecting salvation we cannot feel the Almighty’s purpose in our lives. Our lives become useless, worthless, we can never achieve anything. Poverty, disease, enemies attack us and we feel helpless, there is no peace of mind. Tensions increase, we cry for help but there is none to help us. Where will we go? What can we do? Just nothing! All ways and means are closed. Most of the Christians are living such lives; they know that God (Yah) has given us salvation free of cost but they don’t claim His promises. Faith decreases, rather there is no faith because they don’t see the Omnipresent in physical form, and they can’t feel His presence in their lives, so life becomes a mess. Neglecting our Saviour, His love for mankind, His sacrifice on the cross…is ruining this life physically, mentally and spiritually.
Without God (Yah)’s hand in our lives, we cannot even breathe, how can we expect to live a successful life each day all through our years. In Haggai.1: 5,6 the Lord says, “Consider your ways, you have sown much and bring in little, you eat but do not have enough, you drink but you are not
filled with drink, you clothe yourselves but no one is warm: and he who earns wages earns to put in a bag with holes.” Verse 9 says, ‘you looked for much but indeed it came to be little, and when you brought it home, I blew away.’ Further in Hag.2: 17, the Lord says, ‘I struck you with blight and mildew and hail in all the labors of your hands yet you did not turn to me.’ These verses clearly explain that if we neglect worshipping our Creator, praying and reading the word, we are definitely heading for ruin.
Malachi.1: 4: ‘they may build but I will throw down, they shall be called the territory of wickedness and the people against whom the Lord will have indignation forever.”
“How shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation?” Heb.2: 3. We cannot escape his punishment, so take care, to pay attention to the word of God (Yah). Don’t deprive yourself of the great blessing of salvation! Accept Messiah as your personal Saviour, who saved each one of us from all our sins.
Accept the covenant He made with His precious blood. Messiah says in Matt.26: 28, ‘this is my blood of the New Covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.’
In Malachi.2: 5,6, the Lord says, ‘my covenant was with him, a covenant of life and peace, and I gave them to him, that he might fear. True instruction was in his mouth and nothing false was found on his lips. He walked with me in peace and uprightness and turned from sin.’
Let us also make a promise with the Lord to love Him, adore Him, revere Him, and give Him the best of our lives, i.e. give Him first priority in life.
Heb.10: 35-39. “Therefore do not cast away your confidence, which has great reward. For you have need of endurance, so that after you have done the will of God (Yah), you may receive the promise.
For yet a while, and He who is coming will come and will not tarry. Now the just shall live by faith; but if anyone draws back, my soul has no pleasure in him. But we are not of those who draw back to perdition, but of those who believe to the saving of the soul.
Let us not neglect salvation but accept our Saviour Jesus Christ (Messiah) and be saved. |
