The message of the rain:
After a hot, dry summer, the rainy season is here. Throughout the summer, we were grumbling about the heat. When the first rain drops fell we sang for joy! Now, when it rains, we grumble about the water on the roads, how difficult it is to go to school and office, etc! Do you know that there is a message for us in the rains also? Read Psalms. 77:16-20. ‘the waters saw thee, O God; the waters saw thee, they were afraid: The depths also trembled. The clouds poured out water; the skies sent out a sound: Thine arrows also went abroad. The voice of thy thunder was in the whirlwind; the lightnings lightened the world: The earth trembled and shook. Thy way was in the sea, and thy paths in the great waters, and thy footsteps were not known. Thou leddest thy people like a flock, by the hand of Moses and Aaron.’

God (Yahweh) is still in control of the universe. He is still demonstrating His power through the rains and the storms. The rain and the storm reveal His character. He is speaking to us through the rain. Consider the messages that are in the rains.

God (Yahweh) speaks to us through the clouds.
When we read the weather report which says ‘partly cloudy’, immediately we become restless. But wait. The clouds tell us about the might of God (Yahweh). Ps.68: 34, says, ‘ascribe ye strength unto God (Yahweh): His excellency is over Israel, and His strength is in the clouds’. His power is manifest in the clouds. Ex. 13:21,’ And Jehovah went before them by day in a pillar of a cloud, to lead them the right away’.

The clouds tell us about the glory of God (Yahweh). In the Old Testament, God (Yahweh) revealed His glory through the clouds. Every time you see a cloud, worship the Lord because He is revealing his glory. Ex.16, ‘And behold! The glory of Jehovah appeared in the cloud!’ Ex.40: 34, ‘And the cloud covered the tabernacle of the congregation, and the glory of Jehovah filled the tabernacle.

The clouds tell us about the end of the age. In the Second coming, Messiah is going to come in the clouds with power and glory (Matt.24: 20.) and, ’We which are alive shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air.’ (I Thes.4: 17) Next time you look at the clouds, ask yourself if this could be the day that the Lord is coming! If so, are you ready to meet Him? Rev.1: 7, says, behold He cometh with the clouds.’

The clouds speak about the provision of God (Yahweh). Ps.33: 7 says, ‘He gathereth the waters of the sea as a heap, he layeth up the depth in his storehouses’. That means that whatever the newspapers may say about water scarcity, the Lord has stored up enough water for His people. He has a tank in heaven that is never empty.

God (Yahweh) speaks to us through the rains.
There is a slow rain, there is a steady rain and there is a violent rain. Ps.72:6-7 says, ‘he shall come down like rain upon the mown grass’, a slow misty rain.
In Deut.32: 2, we read, ‘my doctrine shall fall as the rain…as the showers upon the grass.’
The rains speak about the fruitfulness of God (Yahweh)’s word. Isa.55:10-11 says, ‘As the rain cometh down and returneth not, but watereth the earth…so shall my word be that goeth out of my mouth, it shall not return to me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please…’

The rain speaks of the spiritual blessings. Ezek.34: 26 says, ‘I will cause the shower to come down in his season and there will be showers of blessings’.

The violent rains speak of his protection during life’s problems. Matt.7: 25-27 tells a parable of a house that is built on a rock. Even so, in life’s difficulties, if our life is based upon rock-solid faith, the storms of life can never bring down our house.

God (Yahweh) speaks to us through the lightning.
When Israel neared Mt. Sinai, the presence of God (Yahweh) was declared through lightning. Lightning is accompanied by thunder. (Ex.19: 16) Lightning reveals the presence of His voice. Lightning illuminates his word. Lightning is a symbol of the Holy Spirit who takes the word of God (Yahweh) and tells us that God (Yahweh) is in our midst.
Lightning tells us that Messiah is coming, Matt.24: 27 says, for as the lightning cometh out of the east and shineth unto the west so shall the coming of the Son of Man be’. Every bolt of lightning tells us of His coming. They also tell us that satan is falling. In Luke. 10: 18, Messiah tells His disciples that He saw satan fall as lightning to the ground when the devils were cast out by His disciples.
God (Yahweh) speaks to us through the thunder. The thunder of his voice is described in Psalm 77:18. Thunder is only God (Yahweh)’s whisper, because if He speaks loudly or shouts, we will be smashed to pieces! Job 40: 9, ‘Hast thou an arm like God (Yahweh), can you thunder with a voice like Him?’
Lastly, God (Yahweh) speaks through the rainbow. The rainbow speaks of the mercy of God (Yahweh), His faithfulness, His promise that never again would rain destroy mankind (Gen.9: 12-15)

So every time it rains, pause for a while and meditate. God (Yahweh) is speaking to you. He is revealing to you His power and majesty and glory. He is telling you that He is coming soon and is giving you a preview of His Second Coming. Are you ready? Are you prepared to meet your Maker? Now is the time.
