Blessing of Wisdom:
King Solomon asked for wisdom when the Lord appeared to him in a dream at Gibeon, so that he could rule the people of Israel as he was a child. The Lord not only blessed him with wisdom but also riches and honor and long life.  1 Kings.3:7.
‘The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom’, Prov.1:17.We must have learnt this as a memory verse in our Sunday schools. But have we really got this wisdom? Is our life ruled by this good understanding? If so, our lives are blessed.
Wisdom is the ability to judge correctly or rightly. Only then will we have a deeper personal knowledge of Messiah.
King Solomon, who wrote the book of Proverbs, says in Prov.1:22,’fools hate wisdom; they hated knowledge and did not choose the fear of the Lord. Prov.1:29-30,’ they despised my reproof. Righteous lips feed many’. Prov.10:21, fools die because of lack of wisdom. So we see that people perish and ruin their lives because they cannot decide things properly in their lives, their decision to do right is rejected and when they do wrong things in life (i.e. sin against Yahweh and His word) they are led into destruction. The words of the wise will be valuable and encouraging expression of love, capable of dissolving the powers of evil. The words of the wicked bring trouble to themselves and others.
‘There is a way which seemeth right to a man but the end thereof are the ways of death’. Prov.16:25.
But Yahweh’s ways are ways of life and prosperity. For good decisions in life we need wisdom, we need understanding which makes us rich, honored and gives us a long prosperous life. So from where do we get this wisdom?
1. Wisdom is from Yahweh.
Eccl.2:26, ’Yahweh giveth to a man who is good in His sight, wisdom and knowledge and joy.’
Prov.2:6.For the Lord giveth wisdom, out of His mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.
James.1:5. If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of Yahweh who gives to all men liberally and upbraideth not. Divine wisdom is the power which counteracts evil in human life. Yahweh is a generous giver and gives to all who ask. The asking must be with faith or commitment to Yahweh. Wisdom of this world is foolishness.
Prov.10:14. Wise men lay up knowledge, but the mouth of the foolish is near destruction.
Prov.9:1. The blessing of Yahweh, it maketh rich and He addeth no sorrow with it.
The blessing of wisdom is required for everyone who wants to prosper in life without sorrow.
The blessing of this wisdom is our Lord and Saviour Messiah. Rev.5:12. Blessing and glory and wisdom and thanksgiving… be unto our Elohim for ever and ever. (Rev.5:12)
2. Righteous man will search for wisdom and learn.
Prov.1:5. A wise man will hear and increase learning. A man of understanding will attain wise counsel (fools despise wisdom).
Prov.2:4. If you seek her (wisdom)as silver, search her as hidden treasure, then you will understand the fear of Yahweh and find knowledge.
So if we search for wisdom and keep it, we will be good and automatically grow to love Yahweh and fear him and do no wrong.
Prov.1:33. Whosoever harkens to me shall dwell safely and shall be quiet from fear of evil.
3. Wisdom is a treasure.
Prov.8:10Recieve my instruction and not silver and knowledge rather than choice gold. For wisdom is better than rubies, and all things one may desire cannot be compared to it.
Prov.4:5-6. Get wisdom, get understanding. Wisdom is the principal thing, get wisdom, she will preserve you. The main thing is to get, i.e., buy, acquire, this wisdom, because by this wisdom our lives are safe. We do correct things in life by this treasure; our lives are prosperous and happy.
Prov.8:21. That I may cause those who love me to inherit wealth, that I may fill their treasuries.
So when there is wisdom, investments in life are good and profitable and we fill our life’s bank with prosperity.
4. Wisdom is just and pleasant-
--When wisdom enters your heart and knowledge is pleasant to your soul,
--discretion will preserve you, understanding will keep you, deliver you from the way of evil and from bad people.
The fear of Yahweh not only gives wisdom but also makes men to depart from evil. (Prov.16:6). So by this wisdom we will not do bad things in life but also get good rewards.
Prov.2:8-9. Wisdom guards the paths of justice and preserves the ways of his saints. Then you will understand righteousness and justice, equity and every good path.
Prov.8:6. Wisdom speaks truth and not wickedness.
Prov.8:14. Wisdom gives counsel. Wisdom gives strength. Counsel is mine, sound wisdom and understanding.
Prov.8:16. Kings and nobles and princes rule by wisdom. Judges of the earth judge by wisdom.
Prov.4:22. Wisdom is health to our flesh. Wisdom is pleasant, just, true, strength, health and is a power to rule not only our lives in a right way, but also great nations. Wisdom can save our lives and also souls of others.
Prov.11:3. The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life and he that wins souls is wise. But a fool will be a servant to wise of heart. (Prov.11:29). A foolish man is useless to himself and to society. Therefore fear Yahweh and ask for his wisdom to become a wise person.
‘Every wise woman builds her home’, Prov.14:1. But I say not only a woman but also every wise man builds his home and all the family relationships, financial prosperity, health, etc, even as a wise man built his house upon the Rock who is Messiah.
5. Wisdom gives honour.
Prov.3:16. Length of days are I his right hand, I her left hand are riches and honour.
Prov.4:8-9. Exalt her and she will promote you…embrace her and she will place on your head an ornament of grace. A crown of glory she will deliver to you. By learning we get riches, honour and long life. Paths of wisdom are peace and safety. Prov.3:17-18. Her ways are ways of pleasantness, her paths are peace.
Prov.3:23. Then you will walk safely and you will not stumble. When you lie down you will not be afraid, your sleep will be sweet. The paths of wisdom are peace, safety, and because you did the right things in life, your soul will be satisfied, you will have no fear whatever may happen, and when you sleep (die) your reward is present and pleasant.
6. Wisdom gives life here and leads to eternity.
Prov.3:21-22. Keep sound wisdom and discretion…they will be life to your souland grace to your neck.
Prov.4:13. Take fast hold of instruction, let her not go, keep her, for she is your life.
Prov.9:11. By wisdom, days shall be multiplied and years are added yo you.
Prov.16:22. Understanding is a wellspring of life unto him that hath it.
Prov.8:34-36. Blessed is man who listens to me. He who finds me finds favour from the Lord, he who sins against me wrongs his own soul, he who hates me loves death.
So if you want to live, love Yahweh and ask for wisdom.
