Messiah Our Shepherd
“The Lord is my shepherd I shall not want…” (Palm 23) is one of the greatest Psalms written by King David about our protection, abundance, revival, comfort and the treasures of all the overflowing blessings from the Lord in all our lives. As children we must have repeated this psalm many a time.

When Lord watches over us he keeps us safe from all the evil, he leads us to the path of abundance. He gives us good health and life eternal. As he describes in John 10:10; I came into this world to give life in full i.e.; to bless you in all areas of your life, physical, spiritual, emotional, moral. People may fail us at many difficult times but we have hope that the Lord will rescue us from all the trouble Ps. 20:1-2
I am the good shepherd and gives life to his sheep; I care for my sheep, I lay down my life for my sheep. Messiah continues to tell the people in John 10:10-30; my sheep hear my voice and I know them and they follow me. I give unto them eternal life and they shall never perish; neither shall any man pluck them out of my fathers hand.

The good shepherd takes care of every believer. He has placed him in his hand. He sees us daily, live in his word, taste and receive his blessing. But most of us (especially Christians) know that we should receive him in our hearts and love him but do not hear his voice (i.e.; according to the bible) but do our own will according to our convenience and compromise for bad deeds also going astray like the lost sheep, which the lord mentions in Luke 15.The lost sheep went not with the other 99 but went its own way in the wilderness which represents the worldly way working very hard to earn their living, comforts and enjoy as the heathens do. They also accept the traditions and customs of these heathens. I see many of our dear believers taking part in all the traditional rituals and also taking part in their foods and offerings they give to their gods. They drink and make merry before these idols. They also start believing in their good and bad days and start following them; forgetting our Almighty Lord who watches us, protects us, guides us and leads us through His Holy Spirit. But we don’t even have time to pray and worship our living LORD! Rather we take time to gossip about heathen rituals and practices.

But dear brothers and sisters, it’s the Lord’s doing! He will not leave us nor forsake us. He still loves us with an everlasting love; because he has chosen us therefore turn back you lost sheep and come into the fold of the Holy nation. He still is waiting for us! Because He is the shepherd of our souls He does not want us to perish. He said “I came to bring back the lost sheep. He will rejoice when he finds his sheep have returned to him. Don’t be in this world, in John ch:17 he prayed to his Father saying father keep them in this world but protect them from evil. Sanctify them all who believe in me through their word and they may be one in you. That means all the believers should be united to spread the good news of our Lord and save as many souls as possible; so that they might not perish.

But if we as believers are not strong in faith how can we save others? We really do not know our precious savior, we do not enjoy his blessings then how can we share this message with others!
There fore be strong and of good courage to overcome the world. Our accuser the satan is always ready to bring us into temptations to fix us into problems that we get deviated and go astray from the love and promises of our Lord. And as we go astray we loose the power and guidance of the Holy Spirit. And we will not be able to cope up with the situations we are depressed; we are the losers and loose courage and hope.

But Faith and trust in the lord never makes us ashamed. If we trust him, he will make a way in any situation of our life. He is our good shepherd. He says I will lead you into green pastures. I will restore you things which you lost. He will make you to walk in the right ways of this life. If you have sinned and made mistakes in past, he will change them for good and show you what to do in future, so that it will make you receive his blessings. “…Even in the valley of shadow of death...” He is giving you a promise that you will not die-you will live because of his presence with you.

Your enemies can never touch you because; he is going to prepare a table before your enemies i.e. make the best for your life that the enemies will be shocked. “He will anoint your head with oil…” i.e. he is going to bless you so much that the blessing will flow and overflow and will be continuous.  It will not stop you are going to receive a blessing after blessing i.e. you will be blessed and be a blessing to others. He will bless you with good health, wealth, marriage, children, education, high positions in life, honour and what all you need and wish in life on earth. He’ll take you to heaven, as we see Abraham who was blessed on earth and was called the ‘Faithful Friend of God (Yahweh)’.  He is called the Father of all nations in the world. We are going to see him in the heavenly kingdom. He wants to bless each child (believer) with the blessings given to Abraham. The condition is we have to have faith like Abraham, leave the world and start looking up to Lord’s providence; forget and confess our sins and the Lord our god is just to forgive us and bless us!
