The power of resurrection:
Resurrection means coming to life again. When Messiah lived, he proved that he has the power to give life to the dead, and demonstrated it.”I am the resurrection and the life’, John.11:25.

Jairus’ daughter:  In Mark.5:22-42, we read about Jairus, a ruler of the synagogue. His daughter was sick and at the point of death. Jairus come to Messiah and pleaded that he would come to his house to heal his daughter. On the way, the little girl died. In spite of that, Messiah went to Jairus’ house and holding the little girl’s hand, said, ‘Talitha, Cumi’, which means ‘little girl, arise’. Immediately she arose. This story is also mentioned in Matt.9:18. In Luke.8:55-56, it is mentioned that her spirit came again and Messiah commanded that she should be given something to eat.

Lazarus raised from the dead: John.11 tells the story of Lazarus. He was dead and buried and Messiah could visit the family only after four days. (Jn.11:39). He was stinking in the tomb but still Messiah called out in a loud voice, ‘Lazarus, come forth’ And Lazarus, who was dead for four days, came out of the tomb.

The widow’s son: in Luke.7:11-14 we read about Messiah going to a town called Nain. As he was about to enter the town, he saw a dead man being carried out, the only son of a widow. And Messiah had compassion on her and touching the bier said, ‘young man, I say unto thee, Arise’. And the young man rose up and began to speak.

When the disciples of John the Baptist came to Jesus Christ (Yahshua Messiah) to ask if he was indeed the Messiah, he said to them, ‘Go, tell John the things you have seen. The blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear and the dead are raised. The gospel is preached to the poor’.

In John.4:49, the Lord heals a nobleman’s son and says, ‘go your way, your son lives.’

Through these instances we realize that Jesus Christ (Yahshua Messiah) had the power to raise the dead. He says, ‘he who believes in me, though he may die, he shall live and who ever lives and believes in me shall never die, do you believe this’?

In John. 11:25, Jesus said to Martha, ‘I am the resurrection and the life’, signifying that he was able to raise men from death to life, without asking his Father; and that he could do it now. He will do the same also at the general resurrection; at which time he will be the cause of it; and that will display both his omnipresence and his power; as his resurrection is the example of it.

This question is not only to Martha but to us today. Do we believe his power? All these things are written in the Bible by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit that we may believe. Unfortunately we don’t think about this everlasting life. We are all busy in today’s world.

Messiah not only gave them physical life, but today he resurrects each nominal Christian to spiritual life. He shows his way (Ps.32:8), ‘I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go’.
It is the spirit who gives life, the flesh profits nothing. (John.6:63-64). The words I speak to you are spirit and they are life, but there are some who do not believe.

It is due to his resurrection, that they are born again to a lively hope, or are quickened, that has a virtual influence upon it; and it is not only the cause, but the example of it. It is his voice in the Gospel, with a mighty power, which is the means of bringing them to life, which they hear, and so live. It is his image that is stamped on them; and by his Spirit they are made to live, and to walk in newness of life.

Ray Stedman writes in Body Life: We must understand that resurrection power is like no other power on earth. It is unique, and has no possible rival. For one thing, it is the kind of power that operates in the midst of death. It works when everything around it is dull, dead and barren. It works best in the midst of a cemetery, for that is where it was first demonstrated. When Jesus Christ was resurrected he came out from among the dead. Therefore, if you learn to live by resurrection power you can be alive and vital when everything and everyone around you is dead and lifeless.

Resurrection power is also irresistible. It cannot be thwarted or turned aside. It takes absolutely no account of any obstacles thrown in its path, except to use them for further opportunities to advance its cause. When Jesus came bursting from the grave, he paid not the slightest attention to the obstacles man had placed in his way. There was a large stone in front of his tomb; he passed through it. He himself was wrapped in yard after yard of linen cloth; he left the grave clothes undisturbed behind him. There were Roman guards in front of his tomb; he ignored them. He took not the slightest notice of the decrees of Caesar, or the orders of Pilate or the fulminations of the Jewish priests.

Furthermore, resurrection power makes no noise. Other kinds of power that we know usually make some kind of sound: they pound, pulsate, throb, hum, buzz, explode, or roar. But resurrection power is quite silent. Without any display or ostentation it quietly accomplishes its purpose though there is nothing audible or visible to mark it. When a Christian is living by resurrection power he does not advertise it or seek to dazzle others by its display. His effect upon others is quiet and unobserved at first, but soon there are evident changes that mark the inevitable effect of resurrection power at work: the return of life, vitality, excitement and joy to an individual or situation.
