The power of prayer.
It is a very common practice for a majority of Christians to spend long hours in prayer when faced with calamities or troubles. When these troubles pass away, there will be a thanksgiving prayer and then the prayers cease. But is this what the Lord requires of us?

Prayer is conversation with God (Yahweh), directly addressing him. It may be oral or mental.
Read Phil.4:6. “Be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God (Yahweh)”. Paul here is telling the saints in Philippi to remember the Lord in all situations in life. We have to spend time in prayer. Pray continuously, not intermittently. We have to spend time with God (Yahweh), not just once a day or once a week. Not only when faced with troubles but even when everything is going on smoothly. Why should we pray so often? Because prayer relieves you of your burden. When we pray, we are transferring our troubles to God (Yahweh). He says,’ Cast your burden upon the Lord” (Ps.55:22).

King David prayed 3 times a day. In Psalms 5:3, he says,’ my voice shall thou hear in the morning’.
When we pray to the Lord, when we spend time in communion with God (Yahweh), we have peace.
Everything is quiet and peaceful between midnight and sunrise. So David used this time between 12pm and 6 AM. to pray to the Lord. (Ps.5:3) Our Lord Jesus (Yahshua) also used to pray at this time (Mk.1:35). This was a great source of strength to him, because prayer renews our faith and strength. Prayer brings about an inner peace, the peace which the world cannot give. When we have that inner peace, we do not lose courage or be disheartened. It was because of this peace that Jesus (Yahshua) was never flustered or confused when faced with different kinds of people or situations. We never find him giving excuses or postponing things.

Often people think that the Lord does not hear them, their wants are not fulfilled. They feel that since the Lord knows everything, they do not have to ask. The Lord wants us to ask him, ‘Ask and ye shall receive’. (Matt.7:7). ‘Ye ask and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts” (Jas.4:3).
Blind Bartimeus (Mark.10:51), was born blind, the Lord knew it, the people in Jericho knew it. The Lord also knew that Bartimeus wanted to see, but Bartimeus had to ask, to acknowledge that Jesus (Yahshua) was the Saviour of the world to whom nothing is impossible. And when we ask with a sincere heart, with belief, the Lord will grant us our wishes.  We should ask according to his will, he will hear us.(1 John.5:14). If it is the will of God (Yahweh), then it will come to pass.
Paul had a ‘thorn’ in his side, we do not know what it was. But when he asked the Lord thrice to remove this, the Lord said ‘My grace is sufficient for thee’ (2 Cor.12:9) and Paul had to live with it for the rest of his life, a reminder to Paul that he should not think himself to be greater than others.

My God (Yahweh) will supply all your needs .Phil.4:19. All we have to do is ask. He is very near us. The Lord is at hand. (Phil4:5). The Lord is near, he is omnipresent, and sees and observes the conduct of his people, their behavior in the world, and to one another. The Lord is near all who call upon him in truth, (Psa.145:18) he is present in time of troubles and will help.

In thy presence is fullness of joy (Ps.16:11). When we are in his presence, communicating with him, we are filled with joy unspeakable. Not partial joy, not imperfect joy, not joy mixed with pain and sorrow, but joy, full, satisfying, not mixed with anything which would reduce its brightness; joy that will not come to an end.
Our Lord Jesus (Yahshua) says, ‘let not your heart be troubled, ye believe in God (Yahweh), believe also in me’.1).John.14:3. If we believe in Jesus (Yahshua), we will pray without doubting his power, without doubting that we will receive his favours. Remember, doubt and suspicion are two grave dangers, which we as Christians, should never fall into. It weakens our faith. Peter walked on the water (Matt.14:29-30), but when he saw the waves, he doubted whether he could walk safely to Jesus (Yahshua). Peter's fault was that he looked at the waves and at the storm, instead of looking at Jesus (Yahshua). We too should look to Jesus (Yahshua) in our troubles, instead of trying to think how we, in our own foolish way, can solve the problem.

Do you know the response to such prayers? “And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together, and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God (Yahweh) with boldness”. (Acts.4:31). This passage reveals the power of God (Yahweh).
When the Lord answers your prayers, you will be amazed at his power.
