The Feast of Trumpets:
Lev. 23:23, "The Lord spoke to Moses saying, speak to the children of Israel saying, in the seventh month, in the first day of the month shall you have a Sabbath, a blowing of trumpets memorial of and a holy convocation. You shall do no servile work therein, but you shall offer an offering made by fire to the Lord.” Notice there is nothing for you to do other than simply to have a Sabbath on that day, you abstain from work. There is no fasting - there is no traveling - there is an assembly - there are offerings, but there are offerings on all of the holy days. In other words you do the same thing on this holy day as on most of them. The only thing that is different is the blowing of trumpets, and even the blowing of trumpets was limited to a few people. The only people that could do it were the sons of Aaron in the ceremonial sense of this holy day. But it has no particular meaning attached to it, it was a memorial.
A memorial of what? Memorials are when we commemorate something, it's when there is an event, a place in history upon which this thing is focused.
Exo. 19:16. "It came to pass on the third day in the morning, that there were thunders and lightnings and a thick cloud upon the mount and a voice of a trumpet, exceeding loud, so that all the people that were in the camp trembled." The first encounter that the Israelites had with Elohim was announced by the sound of a trumpet. So one would think Feast of Trumpets has to do with the appearance of Elohim, presence of Elohim, Elohim coming down onto the mountain, Elohim making himself known to us.
In verse 20 it tells us "the Lord came down upon Mt. Sinai, on the top of the mount, and the Lord called Moses up into the mount and Moses went up." And then we read how Elohim gave Moses the Ten Commandments.
"Blow ye the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in my holy mountain: let all the inhabitants of the land tremble: for the day of the Lord cometh, for it is nigh at hand; a day of darkness and of gloominess, a day of clouds and of thick darkness, as the morning spread upon the mountains: a great people and a strong; there hath not been ever the like, neither shall be any more after it, even to the years of many generations. A fire devoureth before them, and behind them a flame burneth..." (Joel 2:1-3).
Joel’s prophecy is the sound of a Trumpet from beginning to end. In this passage he is sounding the alarm for war: calling Elohim’s people together to prepare for battle, for the great Day of the Lord is at hand. It shall be a Day of darkness and gloominess to the unrighteous and disobedient, but "as the morning spread upon the mountains" to the people who know their Elohim, and are therefore "great and strong."
The first time when Elohim showed himself to his people, the trumpet sounded, and then they were given his laws and commandments. The law was a schoolmaster to bring us to Messiah, the law shows us that we are sinners, it shows us what is sin. But Israel did not keep the law, they turned away from Elohim and followed after other gods. “Sin is transgression of the law”, 1 John.3:4.
Isa.58:1,” Cry aloud, spare not, lift up thy voice like a trumpet, and shew my people their transgression, and the house of Jacob their sins.”
Ezek.33:7,” So thou, O son of man, I have set thee a watchman unto the house of Israel, therefore thou shalt hear the word at my mouth, and warn them from me”.
The day of the Lord is coming, His Second Coming is imminent, we have to warn the people to be prepared. We have to show the people their sins and teach them to repent and turn to the Lord. The general attitude toward sin today is that we tolerate it and act like it is no big deal, we accept it and joke about it, we are arrogant about it. The Bible says that in the end times, people will not endure sound doctrine.
We, as Christians, have to be firm in calling sin as sin. There can be no two opinions about it. If we do not condemn sin, then we are not fit to teach others. Says Paul, "For is the Trumpet give an uncertain sound, who shall prepare himself to battle?" (1Cor. 14:8).
Such a ministry is the only Trumpet-call that will work a real work of repentance in the hearts of the sinners. We must have a genuine ministration of the gifts of the Spirit if the call of Elohim is to go forth with power.
The Church has done everything but reveal Messiah from the pages of the heart and soul. When men look upon the church, they see a story of, sin, wickedness, division, disunity, bitterness and strife. It is absolutely contrary to their conception as to what Christianity should really be. And consequently, they turn away in disgust. The Trumpets are sounding--but to most people the sound has been one of "an uncertain sound”(1Cor. 14:8). The Trumpet has been giving forth an uncertain sound from all the various branches of the Church, who profess to have the baptism of the Spirit, and the gifts and ministries of the Spirit, and the fruit of the Spirit--but no one prepares himself "to the battle" because of the uncertainty of the sound.
Rev.11:15.” And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Messiah; and he shall reign for ever and ever”.
The end is coming, the Lord is going to come again, we do not know when he will come. He will come as a thief in the night, and he will ask us to account for ourselves. Have we proclaimed his word? His second coming?
"Blow up the trumpet" therefore, ye ministers of Elohim, sound an alarm in Elohim’s holy mountain of Zion, shew Elohim’s people their transgression, and call them to mourning and to repentance.
The Feasts of the Lord:
The months of September and October are the time of the last 3 feasts of the Lord. The seventh month of Yahweh’s calendar is the harvest season. On the tenth day we have the Day of Atonement. On that day we are to ‘afflict’ our souls, that is, we have to humble ourselves before the Lord. In the midst of a good harvest, you may wonder why we should mourn or humble our self. Deut.8:14 says that our hearts should not be lifted up and we should not forget the Lord. Verse 18 says that it is he who giveth thee to get power. |
