Family Prayers:
Consider the average Christian family. The family as a whole is active in church activities--choir, youth fellowship, Sunday school, prayer groups, church committees, etc. But once the family is inside the house they speak of everything, regarding sports, work, school, and TV, but never about Elohim, His blessings, or coming to Him in prayer. Many families make the same mistake. So much time is spent on Church activities, and hearing the Word, we do not apply the Christian principles we have learned inside our homes. We do not include Elohim into our family conversation unless we face troubles.

A family which prays together stays together. It is important that parents involve their children in family prayers, as this teaches them the importance of prayers and builds their relationship with the Almighty. The power of family prayer helps every family member to establish trust with one another, pray together, and come in agreement through Elohim, which brings unity to the household.
The main reasons we should pray as a family are:
It gives us inner peace and strength.
It helps us to depend on him for all our needs.
To thank Him for his blessings and all that he has given us.

An ideal family prayer time should include 1) songs to praise him, 2) reading from the Bible to encourage all and 3) prayer.

Praise: Praise is probably the most important aspect of the Christian walk. It is through praise and worship that we as Christians draw near to Elohim. Psalm 100:4 says that we enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise. Psalms 22 says he that He inhabits the praises of His people. Praise and worship is not just a song service where we sing songs. It has to come from the heart. It is always better to sing songs to God rather than about Him.

Worship: Worshipping Elohim in prayers involves acknowledging him as our creator, sustainer, provider and protector. He is worthy to be praised. (Rev.5:12; 7:12) He should be our first priority in our lives. We accept his authority in everything. By worshipping Elohim in our prayers we teach everyone that he is our only Elohim.
When we praise and worship him, he comes into our homes, his presence destroys evil, the evil forces are rebuked and flee from us.

Prayer strengthens relationships:
The power of prayer in a family strengthens relationships. When we pray for those we know and love we understand that person better. It makes us more patient and understanding in trying situations. All differences between the family members disappear and we can easily forgive one another. Anger, hurt and jealousy are removed and peace is established.
The power generated when a family unites together in prayer is so enormous that Satan will do everything he can to try and destroy it. But our God is bigger and stronger, and He will bless all families who seek Him through prayer. (I John.4:4)
Mat 18:18-20:  “Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven. For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.”
Prayer protects:
It is important to pray for His protection on your family every day. Pray for your spouse, parents, children and so many others- every single day.

Prayer changes you:
Parents often worry about their children because they know that the company of their friends can influence them in a positive or negative way. The more time you spend time with God and pray as a family, your nature will change, and so will your habits. You no longer live selfish lives but love others with a sincere and pure heart. The power of prayer in a family changes us from the inside, which soon gets reflected on the outside.

Prayers heal:
Those who pray are spiritually and physically healthier and stronger than that those who do not and it helps those who suffer from depression, anxiety, and even serious illnesses. Pray for spiritual, emotional, and physical healing for yourself, your family, and those around you.

Reading the Bible: Another important aspect of family prayer is reading the Bible. By meditating on the word of Elohim daily, we grow spiritually. Elohim speaks to us through his word. By the scriptures, Elohim tells us all that is necessary for people to know about himself. Also, by the scriptures he gives us information about the universe, angels and human beings, including their origin, meaning, purpose, unity and destination. When all the family members read a portion of the scriptures daily, it helps them to concentrate on the word. We pay more attention to what we read than hearing others read. Our concentration improves and we start to meditate on what we read.
Try to involve all members of the family when you pray, take time to allow each family member to share their personal prayer request, and as children have short attention spans, so keep family prayer brief.
Remember, the enemy will try to place obstacles to hinder your prayer life. Satan does not want your family to receive the power delivered by prayer. Be focused and consistent on developing your family conversations with God.
