Peace-how to obtain it. For example, a man earns a lot and thinks money can give him peace, but does it? Or he aims to reach a high social status to receive glory, honour, and position in society, or his looks, the styles, the beauty through which he attracts people- but does it remain for long? All these things may give satisfaction for sometime – i.e., temporary satisfaction. Our life on earth itself is temporary. When we die we lose everything that is carnal. So where is this calm and serene state of mind achieved? In this world of confusion, frustration, crime, depression, competition, jealousy, the Lord has promised his children peace in the land we live without fear. The Lord is the “Prince of Peace”, Isa.9:7. He is the Author of peace, I Cor.14:33. The Lord is the giver of peace. “I will give peace in the land and ye shall lie down and none shall make you afraid”. Lev.26:6. At the birth of Yahshua (Jesus) his angels proclaimed, ‘Glory to Yahweh in the highest, and on earth peace and good will toward men’, Luke.2:14. His birth proclaims peace on earth and good will towards men. Our Lord wanted us to live in peace with Yahweh and with man from the time of his creation, but because of sin came the disturbed state of mind. Wickedness entered the heart of man and there remained always strife, fear, anger, hatred which leads to mental and physical wars. To restore the same peace Messiah took birth on earth in the form of man and proclaimed peace through the angels, Luke.2:14. King David declares ‘the meek shall delight themselves in abundance of peace’, Psa.37:11. ‘Great peace have they which love the law’, Psa.119:165. Prophet Isaiah says, ‘Thou hast hearkened to my commandments! then had thy peace been a river and thy righteousness as waves of the sea’. Isa.48:18. So if we obey our Lord, peace will flow like a river, it is not stagnant, it spreads to other people. ‘Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on thee’, Isa.26:3. To those who believe and trust in the Lord, He is ready to give them perfect and total peace- because he takes way all our burdens, our grief and sins and relieves us, to give us peace. The Psalmist advises us to ‘seek peace and pursue it’, Psa.34:14. In the Sermon on the Mount the Lord said, ‘Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called the children of Yahweh”, Matt.5:9. The Lord wants us to be peacemakers. The Lord not only gives us peace in our lives but also wants us to be ambassadors of peace and peace makers. Such peace makers are called the children of Yahweh. Living our lives in peace and making peace in disturbed situations we are called Yahweh’s children. A great title which every man craves for, the Almighty becomes our Father and we his children. He will lead our lives giving us advice to do the right things by which we can achieve peace. Most of the time we do things which are wrong and thereby get into trouble, fears and lose the serene state of mind, i.e., we lose peace. The Lord says, ‘I will give peace in the land and ye shall lie down and none shall make you afraid’. Lev.26:6. ‘He shall not be afraid of evil tidings, his heart is fixed, trusting in the Lord’, Psa.112:7 Even under pressures, calamities and bad times, the Lord will give us wisdom to overcome it because this man totally trusts in the Lord and no fear shall befall him. ‘We know that all things work together for good to them that love Yahweh, to them who are called according to his purpose’, Rom.8:28. In spite of undergoing stress, the believer is sure that this stress or difficulties are for a purpose in his life according to the will of Yahweh and turn into blessings at the time appointed by the Lord. He has to watch and pray and just live in peaceful mental state, not worrying himself for the things he just can’t undo. So that is the kind of peace the Lord flows into our lives and he expects his chosen people to spread this message of peace like a river. The Lord’s gospel is of peace. We as his children should proclaim peace as he proclaimed-Peace be unto you.John.20:19. ’These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace’, John.16:33. ‘And when ye come into an house, salute it. And if the house be worthy, let your peace come upon it; but if it be not worthy, let your peace return to you’. Matt.10:13. ‘And all things are of Yahweh, who hath reconciled us to himself by Yahshua Messiah, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation’, II Cor.5:18. ‘Live peaceably with all men’, Rom.12:18. ‘Now then we are ambassadors for Messiah, as though Yahweh did beseech you by us; we pray you in Messiah stead, be ye reconciled to Yahweh’, II Cor.5:20, i.e., make peace with Yahweh, Rom.5:1. Messiah has reconciled us to Yahweh by the atonement of his precious blood and restored peace and brotherly love to man for which cause he was born. He made his chosen the ambassadors for the ministry of reconciliation to restore the peace which was lost by Adam and build his coming kingdom. ‘Righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Ghost. This is the kingdom of Yahweh’ Rom.14:17. He made us righteous by removing the dirt, sin, fear, anxiety, depression, etc, cleansed us and made us right with Yahweh (righteousness), leading us in the right path and by this situation the mind and the heart are cleansed and we get peace. When there is peace we are happy. This is the principle of peace. After achieving this, we shall enter into his everlasting kingdom and live with him ever after. There are some conditions laid down to protect this peace. Once attained, it has to be shielded and guarded, or else the tempter is ready to snatch it from us. Take care, read the word, watch and pray and be alert in the spirit that no temptation can overtake and bring us back into the old state of carnal (fleshy) nature. ‘The wicked are like troubled sea and have no peace’, Isa.57:20. The carnal man will not have peace, as Isaiah declares what the Lord says, ‘The way of peace they know not; and there is no judgment in their goings. They made them crooked paths; whosoever goeth therein shall not know peace’. Isa.59:8. Wicked people have no peace. May the Lord help every reader to give that peace which passeth all understanding. ‘And the peace of Yahweh which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Yahshua Messiah’, Phil.4:7. |
