Monthly Spiritual Manna TRUMPETS Vol.15: No.10 Aug 2015 |
Adam, Where art thou? In I Kings.19:9, we read about Elijah hiding in a cave and the Lord asked him ‘What doest thou here, Elijah?’ Today, six thousand years later, Elohim is still asking us ‘where art thou? What doest thou here?’ Where are you practically in your walk? ‘And Enoch walked with Elohim’(Gen.5:22). Walking with him implies walking in faith, doing his will and enjoying his presence in all the aspects of life. In other words, he led a godly and upright life. Psa 1:1,’Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the Lord’. In our daily life, are we walking in faith, trusting in Yahweh, at all times, or are we living life as it comes, buried in the world, without any thought of Elohim and eternal life? In our worship, where are we? When Moses spoke with Elohim, he went alone and separately into the holy place. (Ex.33) He did not stand with the ‘mixed multitude’ (Ex.12:38) but worshipped Elohim without any distractions. His focus was on the Almighty. How is our worship today? Are we worshipping Yahweh in spirit and in truth or is worship just a formality? Is our focus on the Almighty when we worship? It is very common these days to see people fiddling with their mobile phones when in church! “Mat 15:8,’This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.” When we worship Yahweh, we should shut ourselves completely off from this world, we should not be distracted by worldly things but enjoy being in His presence. In our work, how are we? The Lord wants us to be sincere in whatever we do. In everything we do, we should bring glory to Elohim. When people tried to create mischief when Nehemiah was building the walls of Jerusalem, he refused to meet them saying “I am doing a great work, so that I cannot come down: why should the work cease, whilst I leave it, and come down to you?” (Neh.6:3) He was faithful in the face of taunts and opposition. Do all things without murmurings and disputings: (Phil.2:14).
In our prayers, where are we? The time we spend in prayer is the time when we are in close communion with Elohim. Often, our prayers are like a shopping list—Lord! I want this, I want that, do this for me, etc,. Prayer is a privilege given to us to worship the Father and make our supplications known to Him. Paul wished ‘men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting. (1Tim.2:8). Holy hands means hands that are not defiled by sin, and not employed in wickedness. Among the Jews, it was forbidden a man to lift up his hands above, except in prayer, and in blessings to Elohim. Remember Daniel. Even though the king decreed that men should petition only him and not any god, he continued o spend time in prayer, as before. Do we pray only when we need something or do we pray because we love to spend time with the Lord? When we witness before others, are we doing it wholeheartedly? Are we holding back something? When Paul was in Ephesus, he testified both to the Jews and the Gentiles repentance toward Elohim, and faith toward our Lord Yahshua Messiah. He told them everything Elohim wanted them to know. (Acts.20:21, 27). The time is running out, let us repent of our foolish ways and turn to the Lord before it is too late. |
