What do you think of Yahshua? Matt.16:13-17.
When Yahshua came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am? And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets. He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?  And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. And Yahshua answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.
Yahshua knew what people thought of him, but he wanted to hear it from his own disciples. He wanted the disciples to confess that he was indeed the Saviour. There was no prophet in Israel for the 400-year period from Malachi till John the Baptist. When John appeared in Judea, the people mistook him for the Messiah, but he confessed and said he was not the Messiah.

The shepherds were told by the angels that a Saviour was born that day. So they went  in haste to see the Saviour who was born as a babe.(Lk.2:17). The shepherds, who were simple people, had no doubt about this because all Jews were expecting a Saviour, a Messiah, who would free them from the Roman  yoke. They were waiting for the prophesies to be fulfilled.

There was a man named Simeon, who waited daily at the temple in Jerusalem, for the coming Messiah. When Yahshua’s parents brought him to the temple, Simeon saw the child and declared that he saw the salvation of Yahweh. (Lk.2:30)

Simon Peter had a very unfruitful night fishing. When Yahshua told them to cast their nets into the deep, Peter doubted his words, they were fishermen and thought they knew better but ‘nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net’, and they brought up one of the biggest catches. When Peter saw this, he looked on Yahshua as a provider of all things. (Lk.5:8)

After this incident, a leper saw Yahshua as he was passing by. He probably heard about the miracles and healings done by Yahshua and wanted to be cleansed of his leprosy. So he saw Yahshua as a cleanser who would cleanse his body. (Lk.5:12)

In Gadarenes, a man possessed by demons met him. When he saw Yahshua, he fell down at his feet and “… thou Yahshua, Son of Elohim most high”. The demoniac saw and recognized Yahshua as the Son of Elohim. (Lk.8:28)

Nicodemus, a Pharisee and a ruler of the Jews, came secretly by night and said to Messiah (John 3:2) "We know that Thou art a teacher come from Elohim."

In Luke.12:13, one came to Yahshua and requested him to ask his brother to divide their inheritance. He saw Yahshua as a judge to settle worldly matters.

Zacchaeus, the chief of the tax collectors, climbed up a tree to see Yahshua, who was passing by. He wanted to know what sort of a man Yahshua was, his complexion, stature, and age. He was filled with curiosity and this led him to believe and be converted.

When Messiah was crucified, darkness covered the earth, the sun became dark, the veil of the temple was torn from top to bottom. When the centurion, who was on duty, saw these things, he glorified Elohim saying’ this was a righteous man’. The centurion saw him as the Righteous one. (Lk.23:47)

On the day of resurrection, two disciples were walking to Emmaus. Yahshua met them on the way and walked with them till Emmaus. He also sat down for supper with them and then their eyes were opened and they realized that he was Yahshua. They saw him as the risen one. (Lk.24:39)

Different people had different views of Yahshua during his life on earth. Only a few saw him as the Son of Elohim, or as the Saviour.

Even today, man looks to Yahshua as someone to solve their problems. He is the one who leaks the questions before the exams; he is the one who helps you get good grades when you have not written your exams well. He is the one who treats all your sickness if you donate to a particular church, he will bring prosperity when you have large debts made by your own foolishness, he is your final employer when your are not qualified for any job…Many go to church only to get some healing or prosperity.

‘What think ye of Messiah?’  When John the Baptist, while baptizing people in the river Jordan, saw Yahshua, he cried out,’ Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.’ Yes, he is the one who has come to forgive our sins, he has come to give us eternal life. He has come to give us kife abundantly. He is the Saviour of mankind. He name is called Wonderful, Counsellor, the mighty Elohim, the everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace.

Will you welcome Him into your life, like Zacchaeus did, and receive salvation? If you have not done so, we beseech you, do it now.
