Fruit of the Holy Spirit:
We are all familiar with Gal.5: 22. In this verse St.Paul has summed up the fruit of the Holy Spirit as love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, godliness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Apart from these there are some more fruits of the Holy Spirit, as we shall see.

Repentance: Our Redeemer presents the life giving power of grace to the fallen man so that we may live a life of purity and holiness. The comforter, which is the Holy Spirit, will teach you all things (John. 14: 26). It is through the guidance of the Holy Spirit that we repent and are baptized. Taught by God (Yah) we lead others into the straight path because ‘the blind cannot lead the blind’.
Holiness:
God (Yah) has always wanted man to be holy. No one is holy by birth or receives it as a gift from someone. Holiness is the gift of God (Yah) through Messiah. Those who receive the savior become the sons of God (Yah). (John.1: 12) We are His spiritual children, born again, renewed in the spirit and in righteousness and holiness. The love of God (Yah), revealed in words and deeds will do more to ennoble a man than anything else. On the cross Messiah made atonement for our sins. The fruit of this sacrifice is holiness and it is this holiness that we grow to when we become His children.

Harmony: Harmony includes unity and oneness. There is one body, and one spirit (Eph.4: 4). When God (Yah)’s people place themselves in correct relationship to Him and to one another, there will be harmony in that fellowship. Dissention and strife breaks up a church, as we all know. “Does a spring send forth fresh water and bitter from the same opening?” (Jas.3: 11). As long as we are in this world we must be linked with one another. As Christians we are members of one body. We are under God (Yah)’s will and command. Messiah is the head of the church (Eph.5: 23). Read John.17: 20,21. Messiah prayed for unity. When His prayer is fully believed, unity of action will be seen among ourselves. When we are drawn closer to Messiah, we will also draw closer to one another. And this unity is also a fruit of the Holy Spirit.

Purity: When one is fully emptied of self, when every false god is cast out of the soul, the vacuum is supplied by the inflowing of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit works on the heart by love and purifies the soul. The spirit that reveals also works the fruit of righteousness.

Obedience: When we are under the command of the Holy Spirit, we will be commandment keeping people .We can show to the whole world that obedience to God’s commands brings its own rewards, in this world as well as in the next. John.14: 26,”but the comforter, which is the Holy Spirit… will teach you all things”. All who are ready to accept the Holy Spirit’s authority will be taught by him. Obedience means that we walk by faith and not by sight (2Cor.5: 7). We walk looking to Messiah who is the author and finisher of our faith. (Heb.12: 2)

Confidence: 1John.5: 14,15 says, “This is the confidence we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.” There is only one mediator and He is Jesus Christ (Yahshua Messiah) and while He pleads for us the Holy Spirit works in us. The Holy Spirit gives us confidence to overcome all problems and obstacles. We can, of our own will, do nothing but it is the Holy Spirit that works in us. As our faith increase so also our confidence in the Lord.

Thankfulness: When the Holy Spirit comes into our lives, there will be no occasion for us to murmur or complain or grumble for what we do not have, but we will always be thanking and praising the Lord for all His gifts. Our Lord is a just and righteous God (Yah). His children should always acknowledge His goodness in all the large and small things of life. People who continue to worry and complain are refusing to accept His guiding hand. “In every thing give thanks, for this is the will of God (Yah) in Jesus Christ for you”(I Thes.5: 18)

Outward cleanliness: Another effect of the indwelling of the Holy Spirit is the way our personality is transformed. Our habits and practices will be in conformity to God (Yah)’s will. We will overcome evil with good (Rom.12: 1-2) We will keep ourselves unspotted (Jas.1: 27) There will be a total transformation in our temper, disposition, conversation, in the dress and also in the home. If we say we are filled with the Holy Spirit and yet do not show any change in our behavior, then we are not a new creation.

The fruit of the spirit also includes humility. Paul, who was once arrogant and proud in his mission of persecuting Christians, repented and became at once humble after the Holy Spirit fell upon him (Acts. 20: 19). It is with this humility that we can preach the gospel to the world, because pride has no place in His ministry.

Another fruit is generosity. The early Christians did not find it hard to raise funds. Believers liberally poured all they had into the ministry. When the Holy Spirit operates powerfully there is no need to go down on your knees and plead for missionary funds. When the Holy Spirit comes, those who have wealth yield it to the Lord generously.
