The power in the blood of Yahshua:
Christianity has been called a bloody religion because of the numerous wars and bloodshed throughout history and the pages of the Holy Bible. While this is true to some extant, especially during the Dark Ages, we must admit that it is also true because of the blood shed by Yahshua Messiah for our sakes. Countless books have been written and songs sung extolling the precious blood of Yahshua Messiah. But what does the term ‘blood of Messiah’ really mean?
There is power, power, wonder-working power
In the blood of the Lamb
There is power, power, wonder-working power
In the precious blood of the Lamb !

The phrase ‘blood of Yahshua’ is mentioned many times in the New Testament. It means the sacrificial death of Messiah on the cross where His blood was shed. It does not mean the physical blood as such. 1Co 11:25,”After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me“. Under the law of Moses, every year the priest was to make an offering of the blood of animals on the altar of the temple for the sins of the people. Heb 9:22,’and without shedding of blood is no remission.’ So with His blood, Messiah sealed the New Covenant for us.

In Ex.12:7 we read how the Israelites were instructed by Elohim to kill a lamb on the 14th day of the first month, Nisan, at evening and apply the blood of the lamb on the sides and upper doorposts of their houses. The angel of the Lord would pass over such houses and the people inside would be safe and protected. Similarly by the blood of Messiah, i.e. by His death, we are protected from the evil one.

We gain access to Elohim in worship and prayer through the blood of Messiah. Col 1:21,” And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled, In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight:” Our sinful self can never stand in the presence of Elohim. We have been reconciled with Elohim. The change is brought about in us, not in Elohim, because He does not change. Heb.10:19,’Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus…”. Eph.2:13,’But now in Messiah Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Messiah...

We have forgiveness of sins. Eph.1:7,”In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace; “We have been redeemed. Messiah has paid the price for us on the cross and set us free from the power of the devil. Our sins are forgiven by the riches of His grace, all kinds of sin, its’ influence and consequences are forgiven. The night before He was crucified, Messiah shared a meal with His disciples and He took the cup, and when He had blessed it, and gave it to them, saying, “Drink ye all of it; For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.” (Matt.26:28)

Our conscience is cleansed. Heb.9:14,’How much more shall the blood of Messiah, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?’ The offerings and sacrifices of the Jews would only make a man externally pure, but could not purify the conscience. They could not remove the guilt associated with sin. Sin makes a man guilty and only the blood of Messiah can cleanse our guilty conscience.

We are able to conquer the devil. In Rev.12:11, we read about the saints how they overcame the devil by the Blood of the Lamb and the word of their testimony. Our righteousness are as filthy rags (Isa.64:6), but because of Messiah’s righteousness we are able to stand against the devil. We not only have fellowship with Yahshua but also have power to overcome the devil.

We are rescued from sinful life. ”Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Yahshua, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot: “(1Pe 1:18-19). Yahshua Messiah paid the price for our lives. John the Baptist called Yahshua the “Lamb of God, who takes away the sins of the world” (John 1:29). Because the blood of Messiah has redeemed us, we are now new creations in Yahshua (2 Corinthians 5:17), and by His blood we are freed from sin to serve the living God, to glorify Him, and to enjoy Him forever.

We receive peace in our lives. Man’s thoughts are always evil (Gen.6:5) and he is always in a sinful state. Messiah by His atonement, has reconciled man to Elohim and restored peace between Elohim and man. We will now lead pure lives because our sins are forgiven.
Since our sins are washed by the blood of Messiah, we will also stand with the saints before the throne of Yahweh.

The purpose of Messiah’s birth on earth was to bring salvation to mankind by His death on the cross and by the shedding of His blood. Before His birth, the Israelites sacrificed goats, bulls and rams and shed this blood and sprinkled it on the altar for remission of their sins. This offering was called as the sin offering. But sprinkling the blood of bulls and goats on the altar was temporary and could not save mankind or bring them into the eternal kingdom. Heb. 10: 4. ‘For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and goats should take away our sins.’ Messiah was the Pascal lamb and He offered Himself for the sin offering on the Passover day, to redeem people from their sins. Heb.9: 13-15. Let us remember His great sacrifice and live our lives that is pleasing to Him.
